A word from the gaffer

Manager John Ryan was delighted with the team’s performance against Waterford United on Friday.

Paying compliments to the ground at Station Road – “It is one of the best in the League at present and has allowed Kildare to play football” – he said.

John thought we deserved a draw and was disappointed that match reports did not give County credit for their efforts. “When you think of it Ossie (Austin O’Neill) had not got a save to make in the second half”

When asked if he thought it was a peno or not he replied “I would love to see it again I thought the referee was too quick – the player was going away from goal but Tyrell came in from behind. I am not one to complain about referees – it was one of those that if you concede you say it’s no “peno” but if it was up the other end I would have been shouting for it”

Although he was happy with the display he is still concerned about Philly (Gorman” – “ He probably will not train this week as he is still struggling with the injury and hopes he will be available for the weekend:

Asked if he intended signing anybody in the transfer window he smiled and said “Watch this space- something will happen in the window” an indication that he may have been one of the syndicate in the recent Lottery win
