Kildare County Players Represent Eircom League U21s

Goalkeeper Tadhg Murphy, midfielder Ray Scully and striker Philip Gorman all featured for the Eircom League U21 side against Celtic's U21s in Ballybofey on Sunday.

Murphy, who has saved two penalties in as many matches for the Thoroughbreds first XI, showed once again his potential as one of the best young goalkeepers in the country.

Scully played well against a Celtic side that included Irish U21 stars Liam Miller and Mick Doyle, both of whom enjoyed a loan spell in Denmark with Aarhus last season.

Gorman came on as substitute with a half an hour left and added a bit of zest to the home side, who were unfortunate to lose 3-1 against a Celtic side that won the Scottish U21 division last term.

The Eircom League took the lead through Jason McGuinness of Bohemians but Celtic led 2-1 at the break after a close range finish by Tony McParland and a brilliant striker by Corkman Miller.

McParland finished off the contest after Murphy had been replaced in the League goal by Limerick's Jimmy Fyffe.
