Scully Delighted With Goal

Saturday's goalscoring hero, Ray Scully, is understandably delighted with scoring the winning goal in Kildare County's first ever league win.

Scully, who has not been a regular so far this season, was surprised to be even in the starting line up. "I thought I might have a chance of playing when I heard that Shay Zeller was injured but I would have been happy with just a place on the bench. Really when I joined Kildare my aim was just to play as many games as I could and to make some sort of impression on Dermot Keely."

He is very modest when talking about his goal, "It doesn't really matter who scored the goal, the important thing was to win as it felt like ages since we had won. I'm glad for the other lads as well as we were all starting to feel a bit of pressure. It is great to be off the bottom of the table and hopefully it can be the start of a bit of a run."

Scully, who signed at the start of the season from Shelbourne, is looking forward to the weekend's game against Dundalk, even if he is not sure if he will keep his place in the team, "I can't wait for the game on Saturday. I was happy enough with the way that I played on Saturday even if I became a bit isolated in the second half. I would like to keep my place but I think Shay Zeller will comeback into the team if he is fit. Hopefully it is a game that we can win and that we can move up the table."
