Preview - Waterford Utd V Kildare County

Kildare travel to the RSC in Waterford to take on the league leaders. Kildare will try to overcome the shattering blow of conceding an injury time winner to Dundalk on Saturday.

Kildare will have to field a completely different strikeforce to the last two games as Keith O'Connor is suspended and John Ryan is injured. Philly Gorman is likely to come in to be partnered by either Mikey McCann or, if he is fit, Shay Zeller. Zeller himself will have a late fitness test to ensure he is over his recent ankle injury.

Kildare will hope that they get the reward for their performance tonight. On Saturday Kildare were on top for long periods but lapses in concentration both in attack and in defence eventually cost them the game.

Waterford have started the season in superb fashion. They top the table and remain unbeaten. Striker, Vinny Sullivan has been one of the stars of the season so. The ex Celtic and Livingston man scored 6 goals in the first 5 matches, before Galway held him scoreless in their last game. If Kildare are to get anything from the game it is vital that they keep him quiet. Waterford have quality elsewhere in team, with the likes of Wayne Russell in goal, John Frost in defence and Alex Dixon who can play in midfield or attack.

The last time the teams met, Kildare won 1-0 thanks to an Alan Kelly goal to progress to the First Divison Cup but tonights game promises to be a tougher assignment altogether.
