Last round-up

Kildare County travel to Oriel Park tomorrow (Saturday) to take on Dundalk in their final game of the season. A Dundalk side that promised so much earlier in the season, fell out of contention for the automatic promotion place with a poor run of results, particularly away from home more recently.

They do however have the third place play-off spot clinched and will have a crack at promotion should they defeat either Finn Harps or Cobh Ramblers in a playoff to decide who meets the side that finishes second from bottom of the Premier.

Dundalk will be anxious to avenge their 3-1 defeat at the hands at County at Station Road in their last meeting back in September. That was one of the Thoroughbreds better displays of the season with Cathal Brady netting two and Eoghan Carew also getting on the scoresheet.

County fans will be hoping that Brady will be able to take his place against Dundalk as he is still struggling with a groin problem and will undergo a late fitness test. Keeper Austin O’Neill remains an absentee and will undergo an operation for his damaged shoulder during the close season. Paul Donnolly (knee injury) will definitely miss the game.

The game kicks off at 7.45, as do all first division games on Saturday.
