Clancy and Kavanagh re-sign

Manager agrees terms with another two of last season’s squad.

The latest players to put pen to paper for the Thoroughbreds for the 2008 season are full back Barry Clancy and midfielder Owen Kavanagh.
Barry, who is 22, joined Kildare from Shelbourne, where he was a regular in the under 21 side, at the beginning of the 2006 season and has made 59 appearances.
He is equally comfortable at left full or on the left wing and though small in stature his industry and tireless running more than compensate.
Joining Clancy in the squad will be Naas native Owen Kavanagh. Owen won the County under 18 player of the year in 2005 and was promoted to the senior squad. He saw his first action at this level when he came on as a sub against Cobh Ramblers in October 2006 and made his full debut in the Thoroughbreds 2-2 draw with Athlone Town at Station Road on October 26th. 2006.
He made seven appearances in his first season with the seniors and made a total of 18 last season and will no doubt exceed that total next season as he gains in experience.
